Fastmail One-click Service

Fastmail provides email, calendars, and contacts. The Fastmail one-click service adds the records Fastmail needs to receive and authenticate your email:

  • MX records for the domain, for every subdomain (*), and for mail, pointing to in1-smtp.messagingengine.com and in2-smtp.messagingengine.com
  • Three DKIM CNAME records (fm1._domainkey, fm2._domainkey, and fm3._domainkey)
  • An SPF record: v=spf1 include:spf.messagingengine.com ~all
  • An ALIAS record for mail to mail.fastmail.com, and SRV records that help email and calendar apps find Fastmail’s servers

Note

Pobox is now part of Fastmail, and the Pobox one-click service is no longer available. MX records that service already added, such as mx-1.rightbox.com, stay on the domain until you delete them.

Add the domain in Fastmail first

Add the domain in Fastmail before you apply the service. See Fastmail’s guide to setting up your domain with MX records only.

Add the Fastmail service

To add the Fastmail service
  1. From the domain list, click the domain name.
  2. Click the tab on the left side.

  3. In the card, click , or if the domain already has a service.

  4. Click the tab, and click next to FastMail.

The service has no setup form, so DNSimple adds the records as soon as you click . The app lists it as FastMail.

Warning

The service’s MX records send all email for example.com to Fastmail. If the domain already has MX records for another provider, mail goes to the record with the smaller priority number first. Keep only the MX records for the provider you use. See Managing MX Records When Changing Email Providers.

A domain can only have one SPF record. If the domain already has one, merge the two into a single record after applying the service. See Set Up SPF Records. To check the MX records afterward, use Google’s Check MX tool. To remove the service later, see Remove a one-click service.
