Anyone can register a .CO.UK domain. .CO.UK is the most popular third-level domain under the United Kingdom’s .UK, and the registry, Nominet, has no eligibility restrictions for it.
For transfers and ownership changes, which work the same way for all .UK domains, see .UK Domains.
Who can register a .CO.UK domain?
Registration is open to anyone worldwide. Nominet does check the registrant’s name: it must have at least four characters, including at least three letters.
The .CO.UK registration form has two optional fields for UK companies:
- : the company’s Companies House registration number
- : LTD, PLC, LLP, or IP
Is a .CO.UK domain extended when it is transferred?
It depends on how long the domain has left. If your .CO.UK domain has less than three months before expiration, a transfer extends it by two years, and the price of the extension is included in the transfer fee. If it has three months or more remaining, the transfer does not extend it.
What else should I know about .CO.UK domains?
- WHOIS privacy: not available.
