DNSimple supports .CO.ZA domains, South Africa’s commercial domain. .CO.ZA transfers do not use an authorization code: the registry asks the current owner and registrar to approve the transfer, and cancels it if nobody responds within five days.
How do I transfer a .CO.ZA domain to DNSimple?
Before you start
Warning
To avoid the possibility of downtime, point the name servers for the domain to DNSimple (or another provider) before you begin the transfer. This prevents downtime and allows you to perform changes to the DNS records during the domain transfer.
Transfers are not allowed from two days before the expiration date until the 5th of the following month. An expired domain can still be transferred, but only in the first five days after it expires.
Approve the transfer
After you start the transfer, the registry notifies the domain’s current owner and current registrar and asks them to approve or deny it.
- If either one approves, the transfer goes ahead.
- If either one denies, the transfer fails.
Warning
If nobody approves or denies the transfer within five days, the registry cancels it.
The notice goes to the registrant’s email address, which may be different from your DNSimple account email. If you cannot read it, update it at the current registrar before you start the transfer. If you do not see the email, check your spam or junk folder.

- Registration period: one year at a time.
- Expiration: a .CO.ZA domain that is not renewed can be restored for 20 days.
